Gravel guards for your garden, balcony and patio
Our gravel guards are L-shaped, dimensionally stable, durable and corrosion-resistant. They are quick and flexible to install. This makes it easy to create, for example, a gravel bed that blends in with the surroundings of your house and garden. Below you’ll find out more about the features and benefits of gravel guards and edging profiles from the BMSC24 shop.
What are gravel guards?
Gravel guards are edging profiles (also used as border edging) that blend neatly into the garden or on flat roofs. Gravel guards can also be used on patios and balconies, for example as an edge restraint for the base layer – ideal if you want to lay patio slabs on top.
What types of edging profiles are available?
The gravel guards in our shop are made from high-quality aluminium and are available in various versions.
We stock the following gravel guard options in our online DIY store:
- Leg sizes of 50 x 70 mm (approx. 2.0 x 2.8 in) and 80 x 90 mm (approx. 3.1 x 3.5 in).
- Overall lengths of 1 m (approx. 3.3 ft), 2 m (approx. 6.6 ft) and 2.5 m (approx. 8.2 ft).
- Material thicknesses: 1 mm (approx. 0.04 in) and 1.5 mm (approx. 0.06 in).
- Our gravel guards are suitable for loose aggregate from 5 mm (approx. 0.2 in) and larger.
Depending on the version and application, the edging profiles feature different hole patterns.
In addition to single gravel guards, we also offer better-value 10-piece sets of the 2.5 m (approx. 8.2 ft) versions.
What are gravel guards used for?
With a modern gravel guard, you can create clean, elegant edging quickly and easily. Gravel guards can be used for a wide range of applications. They separate different areas of the garden and stand out thanks to their neat, modern look.
On roofs, patios and balconies, gravel guards help with controlled water drainage and tidy edge detailing. Especially for green roofs, gravel guards support effective drainage. They also ensure that contained materials such as gravel, chippings or roof substrate are not washed away.
How are gravel guards installed?
Gravel guards from our online DIY store are easy and safe to work with and install. Depending on the substrate, these edging profiles are either bonded or screwed down. This helps prevent, for example, your green roof build-up from being washed away by rain.
The edging profiles can simply be trimmed to length using a metal saw or a cutting disc.
