What Are the Best Lawn Edgings?
Ideally, good lawn edgings should have a minimum height of 10 cm. This height allows the lawn edgings to be sufficiently deep in the ground. Additionally, a thickness of at least 1 cm for the bed edgings is recommended. Depending on the intended use and purpose, different materials available for lawn edgings, such as wood, metal, or plastic, offer individual benefits. Therefore, it may be helpful to consider in advance where in the outdoor space and for what purpose the bed edgings will be used before purchasing.
What Materials Are Lawn Edgings Made Of?
In our shop, we offer modern and high-quality lawn edgings made from different materials. The edgings and sheets are available in various sizes and models. Currently, our selection includes the following models:
- Lawn edgings/plant rings made of galvanized steel
- Lawn edgings made of PE/PP
- Lawn edgings made of PET
Our plant rings made of galvanized steel are considered robust, durable, and corrosion-resistant. In addition, they are highly impact-resistant but still flexible, allowing you to shape the bed borders according to your preferences, especially for curving grass areas. Another advantage of high-quality metal lawn edgings is their simple appearance, as their thin design makes them barely noticeable and seamlessly blends into the garden. Finally, the sturdy metal plant rings also act as a reliable barrier against snails.
Easy to install and maintain, the bed edgings made of plastic are available in our shop in either PE/PP or PET plastic. The material properties include a long lifespan and resistance to rotting. Additionally, the lawn edgings are form-stable as well as weather- and UV-resistant. Lawn edgings made of plastic are generally more cost-effective than those made of galvanized steel, but their durability is slightly shorter.
How Do I Get a Nice Lawn Edge?
With the right tools, you can lay lawn edgings and improve existing edges. You can install a lawn edging at any time, but it’s best not to do so in the middle of the growing season; spring is ideal for installation.
Before you begin, make sure you have enough bed edging elements available, so it’s advisable to measure the area to be bordered before purchasing the lawn edgings. Using a spade or lawn edging tool, dig a groove into which you place and interlock the individual lawn edging elements. In our shop, you can also find lawn edging nails, which are useful for a more stable and permanent hold. Finally, compact the surrounding soil, check the height of the edge, and level the ground.
