What are wall niches?

What makes a high-quality wall niche?
A high-quality wall niche stands out through several features. For example, it should allow for precise installation and prevent a protruding frame. The material is also crucial, as it ensures high stability when integrated into the wall and helps prevent cracks and warping. In our range you’ll find wall niches made from stainless steel as well as polystyrene.
How is a wall niche installed?
Wall niches can be installed in both drywall constructions and masonry walls. They are suitable for new builds as well as renovations. When choosing a wall niche, keep in mind that tiling will slightly reduce the usable opening size. This is especially noticeable in the height of the niche if you opt for a slim wall niche.
- Mark the desired position of the wall niche
- Reinforce the cut-out edges with profiles
- Apply adhesive to the rim of the wall niche element
- Insert the wall niche and use a spirit level to check it is level
- Seal the surrounding joints with adhesive
- Apply mesh tape overlapping onto the wall and niche element to bridge cracks
- Tile the wall
Especially for complex or large niches, installation should ideally be carried out by a professional to avoid damage to the wall and incorrect installation.
