Dalsys transition profiles
To create a precise, stable transition between two different types of flooring, we recommend using transition profiles. Whether used as an edging profile or a transition strip, the robust aluminium material delivers a durable finish and also enhances the look of your floor.
Which transition profile is right for you depends on two factors. First, it matters what type of floor covering you have at home—carpet, vinyl, laminate or parquet flooring.
Second, the intended use of the profile is key: a distinction is made between edging profiles, reducer/adjustment profiles and transition profiles.
What types of profiles are available?
There are three main types:
Transition profiles: Ideal for creating a neat finish and a clean join between two floors of the same height. This helps avoid trip hazards and reduces the risk of injury.
Edging profiles: Used to create a tidy connection between the wall and the floor. They are also ideal for finishing flooring at balcony or patio doors.
Reducer / levelling profiles: Designed to connect two rooms with different floor heights seamlessly. Because these profiles are height-adjustable, they allow you to bridge uneven levels and create a smooth, harmonious transition.
What surface finishes do the transition profiles have?
Our transition profiles stand out not only for their excellent workmanship, but also for their premium design. The base material, aluminium, is robust, hard-wearing and anodised. Surface finishes range from classic brown woodgrain to a black metal look, making them easy to match with any interior style. Long-lasting durability and stability—even under heavy use—are guaranteed with Dalsys products.
Which floor coverings are Dalsys transition profiles suitable for?
Dalsys transition profiles are ideal for a wide range of floor coverings, including carpet, tiles, laminate and parquet flooring. For installation, the height of the profile is important: it must match the height of the floor covering—something to pay particular attention to with edging and reducer profiles.
How are the transition profiles installed and what accessories are needed?
To install the transition profiles and cut them to the right size, you will usually need a saw. Ideally, use a mitre saw with a blade suitable for aluminium and stainless steel. Cutting with a hacksaw or a reciprocating saw is not recommended, as it can result in a rough, uneven cut.
For transition profiles supplied with fixings, you receive the profiles including screws and wall plugs. All you need is a cordless screwdriver or a screwdriver to secure the profile. Self-adhesive profiles, on the other hand, come with integrated double-sided tape, so no additional adhesive is required.
Whether you want to join two floor edges, compensate for different floor heights or neatly finish off your flooring—Dalsys has the right solution for you and your home.
