What is a slope wedge?
A slope wedge is used in walk-in showers to cover the side tile edge when the fall is formed on one side only. At the same time, the side edge of the slope wedge creates a matching incline profile. A slope wedge is used to clad the side returns of walk-in showers. It’s important to check whether you need the slope wedge for the left-hand or right-hand side. We offer the right profile for both sides.
What material is the Dalsys slope wedge made from?
The Dalsys slope wedge is made from high-quality, acid-resistant stainless steel. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and extremely durable against the chemicals found in cleaning agents. This makes the slope wedge long-lasting and highly durable.
What’s the difference between a slope wedge and the slope wedge U-profile?
Unlike the slope wedge without a glass channel insert, the slope wedge U-profile is designed to hold a glass partition, which is ideal as an additional privacy screen for an easily accessible shower. A suitable glass pane is inserted into the pre-formed section, providing both privacy and splash protection. The glass panes can usually be fixed in place using silicone adhesive.
How is a slope wedge installed?
First, cut the stainless steel rails to the required length using a metal cutting disc that is designed specifically for this type of rail. Then apply tile adhesive generously around the transition area and position the shower profile with the integrated fall. Next, spread the adhesive evenly and carefully set the tiles in place.
With the slope profile that allows for a glass insert (U-profile), you also insert the glass pane and make sure it is securely fixed using silicone adhesive. If you need to shorten the profile, it’s best to do so at the highest point of the slope wedge.
How much fall is required in a walk-in shower?
The required fall for a level-access shower is between 1 and 2%. This means that for a shower with a width of 100 centimetres (approx. 39.4 in), the height difference is a maximum of 2 centimetres (approx. 0.8 in).
