What is a Chimney Connection Tape?
A chimney connection tape ensures optimal roof sealing, reliably protecting the interior of your roof from dirt, moisture, and other external influences. The chimney connection tape can be used both as a wall connection (on walls adjacent to the roof) and for the eaves, ridge, and side chimney connections.
Thus, the chimney connection tape has two key areas of use: sealing between components and connecting to rising components, such as the chimney. It effectively connects wall and roof surfaces and ensures a well-sealed roof or facade when installed correctly.
Overall, the versatile chimney sealing tape is suitable for use on chimneys, bay windows, and areas around roof windows. Compatible with most types of roofs, including concrete and ceramic tiles, it can also be combined with metal and aluminum sheets.
What Material is a Chimney Sealing Tape Made of?
Made of aluminum, the chimney sealing tape is highly UV- and weather-resistant. Additionally, aluminum as a high-quality material ensures a long product lifespan, meaning you don't need to replace it every year. However, it is still recommended to regularly check the chimney connection and inspect the sealing tape for any damage or signs of wear to ensure the chimney connection remains sealed. Furthermore, aluminum’s manufacturing creates a water-repellent surface on the chimney connection tape.
Another advantageous feature of the chimney connection tape is that it is easily moldable and adaptable to any structure. This allows for effortless, flexible work. The pre-applied butyl adhesive provides strong adhesion, ensuring a secure hold once you press the chimney connection tape firmly in place. Thanks to its three-dimensional surface structure, you can even use it for hard-to-reach areas.
What Defines a High-Quality Chimney Sealing Tape?
Since the connection tape must guarantee a seamless transition from the roof covering to the wall facade, high elasticity is crucial. Despite its flexibility, a good chimney connection tape also possesses great durability and dimensional stability to withstand external influences such as wind, UV radiation, and rain.
Furthermore, it is important to prevent moisture and dirt from penetrating the interior. This is reliably achieved through the strong adhesive power of butyl, ensuring that your roof is completely sealed wherever you apply the tape.
How is a Chimney Connection Tape Installed?
Installing the chimney connection tape is simple because the tape is self-adhesive, and you only need a sturdy pair of scissors. It is important to note that the tape should only be applied at temperatures between 15-35 degrees Celsius. Before securing the chimney sealing tape, clean the surface between the wall and roof from dust, dirt, and other debris, and wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Once the surface is completely dry, you can roughly cut the chimney connection tape to size and peel off the protective film on the adhesive side. You can either wrap it around the chimney or press it firmly onto the designated areas for eaves, side, or ridge roof connections.
Make sure to press the chimney connection tape firmly to ensure that any uneven surfaces are reliably sealed, and work step by step. It is also recommended to overlap the installation if adding a new strip of tape to prevent weak points.
